ART & TECHNOLOGY
Where the aesthetic and technical meet in new creative expression, and, welcome to Art & Technology. Last week featured two extraordinary Web sites as Web art; sites that might qualify as works of art in their own right. Here is yet another sampling of this exciting new art form.

"...the latest eddies in the spacetime flow of information, images, sounds, and events..."
Gary Zebington hosts an eye-catching Web site called eyespace, one of several tour de force high tech art sites operating under the Merlin umbrella. Merlin is a consortium of high tech wizards and creative artists based in Sydney, Australia.

Here you can sample some very fine digital art in a high-tech setting. If your Web browser is capable, you will be treated to accompanying digital sound, quiet and not unpleasant. Many of the Merlin arts sites linked at eyespace require a browser equipped with all of the latest enhancements and plug-ins, and this is noted with the links. For eyespace, though, any reasonably recent browser should get you in.

"...independent media, radio, film and television production companies, writers, musicians, programmers, and media arts practitioners who have come together to undertake projects and performances while continuing independently with their own work."

eyespace
is an apt title for Gary's innovative Web site, a fine example of the kind of high quality art and presentation to be featured at this site in coming weeks. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit more about this.

Welcome to Art & Technology,
a Web site dedicated to exploring and celebrating the creative spirit.

Exploring and celebrating the creative spirit

This Web site is your gateway to a wealth of creativity; diverse and wonderful works of imagination and vigor to inspire and energize your own creative spirit. Here you will find information about and links to some of the wackiest, funniest, and finest visual and literary arts sites on the Web.

In coming weeks, this site will feature works and words by well known and not yet well known painters, sculptors, photographers, writers, poets, and as yet unlabeled creative individuals. New information about unique and captivating Web sites will be posted each week; starting points for your own creative exploration. You are cordially invited to visit the sites featured here to see and learn more about the work of these talented artists.

Johannes Itten, arguably the world's foremost color theorist, examined in detail color as subjective feelings and objective color principles. Good information in his book, The Art of Color.
Your participation is welcomed

An essential ingredient in the eclectic mix of material to be presented at this site will be your requests and contributions. If you know of a Web site you find interesting, are an artist or a writer with your own site, or just wish to ask a question or make a comment about this site or the information presented, I will be happy to hear from you. Your participation is welcomed and encouraged.

C.G. Jung theorized that colors and functions were correlated: yellow was associated with the intuition function, blue with thinking, and so on. Not everyone agrees with these theories.
