Experimental Art
GERMANY

Rolf Langebartels
is an artist, sculptor, and musician living and working in Berlin, Germany. His audio art works, performances, and concerts are exhibited and performed in Germany and throughout Europe since 1976.

"A central theme of his work is to apply the principles of musical composition to sculpture. At present he works on installations using light, sound, and kinetic sculptures."
Rolf's primary interest
is with balance sculptures and installations, specifically designed for a given space or location. In recent years, his interest concentrates on sculptural works with sound; sound installations or sound sculptures and concerts of site-specific, electro-acoustic music. There are several samplings of these intriguing works at his Web site.

Rolf founded the non-profit
Galerie Giannozzo in 1978 (now the art association Kunstverein Giannozzo) where he serves as director. He takes an active role to curate exhibitions and organize festivals of new and experimental performance and sound art.

Artist, director, curator... Rolf also organizes symposiums about theoretical aspects of art and music, and writes on the subject; Sculptural Works with Sound and a New Mode of Hearing Music is recently published in the Polish journal Tumult.
